The roots of American Freemasonry Run Deep and Strong

How do I become a Freemason?

Anyone seeking membership in Freemasonry must ask a Masonic friend to recommend him.  He must complete a Petition (application), stating his name, age, place of residence, occupation and place of employment.  Four Character References are also needed. Once the Petitioner turns in all paperwork and initiation fees, an Investigating Committee made up of three Lodge Members conduct an interview and vetting process. What are the qualifications to become a Freemason?

Freemasonry is proud of its philosophy and practice of “making good men better.”  Only individuals of the finest moral character are considered for membership.  Every applicant must advocate his belief in the existence of a Supreme Being.  In Maryland, a Candidate for Freemasonry must be 18 years of age or older.
